Strikers have arguably the single most important position in the team. Great strikers possess footballing intelligence, a deft first touch, an accurate shot and blistering speed. In this soccer scoreboards article I have listed the best striking partnerships in the league at the moment:
5. Gabriel Agbonlahor & Darren Bent
Agbonlahor and Bent play for Aston Villa. Bent has been in tremendous form this season and is performing at a very high level. Agbonlahor is not playing that well but with Bent beside him this pair has brought hope to Aston Villa’s fans this season, that perhaps they can achieve something yet. Bent has been in form and with the help of Young’s assists he is scoring well for the team. With Bent beside him, Agbonlahor shouldn’t be off form for too much longer. These are the two key players in the teams attacking line up, and Villa has a lot to look forward if they can gel and reach their potential.
4. Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres
We have yet to see these two play together much, however if we look at both the players individually, then it is safe to say that this is the best striker partnership in the league. Some people argue that Anelka and Torres would make an ever better pairing as Drogba isn’t performing that well at the moment. However, if Drogba and Torres both start playing like we know they can, they will surely be one of the deadliest striker pair the league has ever seen.
3. Robin Van Persie and Marouane Chamakh
These two are both fantastically skillful players who, when not injured, have been performing well this season. They both have a decent scoring record and they have earned their money. Something that you cannot say for many players in the league! Arsenal are currently second in the league and they will be looking for this partnership to flourish in the closing stages of the season.
2. Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney
These two players have not played as a pair too much this season, with Rooney often pushed out to the wings. Berbatov has managed a hat trick and a five goal haul which means that he has scored 11 goals in just 3 games. He is also the highest scorer in the league with 19 golas to date. Rooney has been off-colour, but is they can both find their form they would be formidable.
1. Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez
Carlos Tevez has been firing goals in from all angles this season and with the newly signed Dzeko, Manchester City are set to give the other teams a tough fight for the title. Apart from these two great players the team has the promising youngster Mario Balotelli, and the skillful Spaniard, Silvia. Tevez is currently second in the race for the golden boot with 18 goals.
