In a soccer scoreboards feature, I have picked out the best 4 forwards that I have seen play in the last few years. Two of them are in their prime now, whilst the other two are at the end of their great careers.
Goals are the most interesting part of the game of soccer, and the people who score goals are admired dearly by their fans. Forwards have the big responsibility for scoring at least 20 goals for their team per season. We have seen some great forwards in the history of the game; now let’s take a look at some of the best to have plyed their trade in recent times, or who are still playing today.
Lionel Messi
There are not enough words to describe this phenomenal player. He has now won the FIFA player of the year twice in a row. The soccer scoreboards show that so far he has scored 158 goals for his team in all competitions. He is a great player not only because he scores in almost every match but because he sets up so many goals for his teammates. Currently he plays for the best club in the world, FC Barcelona. He has got some great players in his team playing around him which has pushed him on to becoming the player that he is today. In the last couple of seasons alone he has put away 85 goals and he is practically unstoppable.
Raul
Raul is one of the most successful Spanish players. He plays for Real Madrid and until recently was a big starr for his national team. He has led Madrid to six La Liga titles, and he has been a consistent player and for them. He has scored 203 goals up till now and the number is still increasing. Unfortunately he has suffered from injuries this last two years, and his status as one the very best forwards in the world is no more. For his achievments over the last decade, however, he gets into this list.
David Villa
David Villa is one of the most feared forwards in the world. He has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers not only at the club level but also at the national level. He is the top scorer in the Spanish team and performed incredibly for his winning national team at the World Cup. Along with Xavi and Iniesta, he was part of one of the unplayable forward lines the world has ever seen. So far he has scored 237 goals in all competitions at club level, and he was signed by the best club of all last year, FC Barcelona. He now plays alongside players like Messi, and this has improved his performance even more.
Thierry Henry
Henry is one of the most prolific scorers of this generation. His prime was spent at Arsenal, where he played the best soccer of his life, and scored some outragous goals in the process. Even today Henry is one of the most feared strikers in England and Europe. He played for Arsenal for about 8 years where he was the top scorer of the club. He has also won the Premier League Golden Boot four times. He has scored 251 goals up till now in all competitions, and with his recent transfer to MLS, no one knows where this number will end.
