Myers Park baseball is a big draw around the county, and the state. During the last season they won against West Mecklenburg at eight to four, Olympic with the scoreboard showing eight to seven, and Hopewell at twelve to two. This was just the first three games of the season. The Mustangs also stomped Mallard Creek, North Mecklenburg, Butler, Independence, and Ardrey Kell before losing a single game. There were two losses next, one against East Mecklenburg and one against Providence. The rest of the season for the Mustangs was a mix of many wins and some losses, but overall the team had a great season. This city and team have a history of baseball excellence, and the 2003 Mustangs baseball team went all the way to the State 4A final under the trained eye of Coach Deming.
