The Greatest Quarterbacks In NFL History

The Greatest Quarterbacks In Nfl History

Ranking players in a particular sport is never easy, and ranking a quarterback, is perhaps even harder. Sometimes the statistics of a quarterback cannot be taken as the sole factor in the ranking. Sure, the current statistics of a quarterback are a good pointer towards their greatness, but no more than that! A quarterback can be great even though his statistics may not be the best. What makes a quarterback great? Different experts assign different values to the qualities of a quarterback, because no two quarterbacks are the same in their ability and talent. A quarterback’s greatness lies not in his stats because there are many quarterbacks whose greatness lies more in their ability to lead their team and to get out of difficult situations. This is why the list of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL is very subjective. We’ll give it a go though!

David Beckham – More than just an athlete

David Beckham - More Than Just An Athlete

David Beckham is an iconic British athlete. He is more than just a soccer player and has always been in the news, be it his wedding with the former Spice girl Victoria Adams, his hairstyle, his tattoo or rumours that he has been cheating on his wife.

David Beckham was born on May 2, 1975 and has been a soccer lover since his childhood. He started playing football at the age of 5 and went to a soccer school for training. His passion and love for the game made him work particularly hard, and in no time he had earned a chance to participate in an FC Barcelona training session. He then played for a local youth team before being signed by Manchester United as a young teenager. His performances were so outstanding that he received an award for the under-15 player of the year. The soccer scoreboards showed that he made his professional debut at the age of 17 with Manchester United, and helped United win the Champions league in 1999, as well as many other titles.

The Most Overrated Soccer Players in the World

The Most Overrated Soccer Players In The World

The fans just love this game of soccer, and in their fervor sometimes they blindly overrate some of the players. These players do not have something extra ordinary in their game but the fans simply love them. Sometimes they turn into such big players because they have a spouse who is a celebrity or because they have performed well only in a couple of high profile matches. Once fans start treating them like big players, companies run after such players and sign them as ambassadors, and then they get important roles in advertisements. This is why players become overrated. According to the fans, here are the most overrated players.

NFL Football vs Rugby – Which is the Toughest?

Nfl Football Vs Rugby - Which Is The Toughest?

In a football scoreboards feature, we compare the great games of football and rugby and ponder the quesion: which is the toughest?

The first obvious difference is that football players play in small bursts often of just a few seconds, and the football scoreboards show that they generally play no more than 40% of each game as each football team essentially consists of three teams, and subs are unlimited. Rugby players can be substituted, but often they play for the whole game and they spend much more time running as they game is stopped much less than football. This means that rugby players have to have much more stamina, but it also means that football is open to stronger and bigger players with less natural endurance. Football players can be considerably bigger; in fact the heaviest football players are around 380 pounds, whilst rubgy players max out at around 280 pounds.

Soccer has been a very popular sport for over a hundred years now. Like every other sport soccer is also surrounded by controversy, injuries and some memorable moments.

England vs. West Germany, 1996:
England vs. West Germany was the final match of the World Cup in 1996. The soccer scoreboards showed that the game was tied at 2-2 till full time and was then moved to extra time. Without any goal being scored after 11 minutes of extra time, a controversial goal was scored by Geoff Hurst of England. The ball apparently landed on or just over the line; the referee was not certain whether it was a goal or not. He consulted his lineman who was from USSR and he signaled that it was a goal. The Swiss referee awarded the goal to England, leaving West Germany in utter despair. The goal has been controversial since the time it was scored and Germans believe that it was revenge from the USSR lineman because USSR had been defeated by West Germany in the semi finals.

Five Biggest NFL Football Bloopers – Updated Article With Extra Information

American Football Bloopers

At Electro-Mech, we manufacture and sell football scoreboards. In addition, we have a blog that follows what’s new and what’s interesting in the world of football, basketball, soccer and baseball. In this article we look at the five biggest bloopers ever made in the NFL.

Blooper 5: The missed punt.

It was the 1986 playoff game in Chicago against the Giants. It was a freezing cold January day with a strong wind. Just the sort of wind that kickers and kick returners fear. Sean Landeta, a second season punter, became the victim of the wind. As he attempted to punt close to his end near the beginning of the game, a massive gust of wind took the ball away from him as he dropped it and he barely got any foot on it at all. Chicago then picked up the loose ball up for a touchdown, and the Bears went on to win easily. Although the blooper had no baring on the final result, it certainly didn’t look good as far as Sean Landeta was concerned!

Who takes the Spotlight: Kobe Bryant or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?

Who Takes The Spotlight: Kobe Bryant Or Kareem Abdul-jabbar?

In a basketball scoreboards feature, we look at Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and ask, who takes the spotlight?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was born in 1947 in New York. He was born a Catholic but later converted to Islam and so changed his named to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He had passion for basketball since he was a child. He achieved a lot in his early days and due to this game he was picked by Milwaukee Bucks. There he remained a dominant figure in the team and helped the team to win the division for four straight years. He then joined Los Angels Lakers. The basketball scoreboards showed that he scored a total of 38,387 points and is still the all time leading NBA scorer. He is famous for his skyhook shot which the defenders found almost impossible to block. His height, 7 ft 2 inches, is also an important contributing factor in making him one of the greatest players of all times.

On the other hand, Kobe Bryant is still quite young a player as compared to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was born in 1978. He started playing basketball in his school days. At the age of 17 he decided to go into the NBA directly and was then the 6th player to do so. Bryant then joined Los Angeles Lakers in 1996 and still plays for the same team. He won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant differ a lot in terms of age. Kareem has retired while Kobe is still on the go. Kobe has still got a few years left and who knows if he will be a greater player than Kareem. Kareem almost had no injuries during his career, although he broke his arm a couple of times, and had a scandal free career. Kobe too, has had an injury free career, but sadly not a scandal free one. In 2003, he was accused of sexual assault by a hotel employee, where he stayed prior to where his knee surgery was to be done. This damaged Kobe’s image to such an extent that big companies terminated endorsement contracts with him.

Kobe Bryan played as a shooting guard whereas Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played at a centre position which makes the comparison difficult. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has won six NBA championships and the Most Valuable player for six regular seasons while on the other hand Kobe Bryant has won the Most Valuable Player award only once in the 2007-08 season. In 2010, Kobe became the all time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history.
It’s hard to decide who takes the spotlight Kareem or Kobe, because one is retired and the other is still playing but according to experts Kareem is the best between the two. If you ask the fans, you’ll probably get a similar response. Perhaps in a few years, when Kobe’s career is reaching its natural end, this comparison will be easier to make.

New York Mets Vs. Houston Astros (1986): The Greatest Baseball Match Ever Played

New York Mets Vs. Houston Astros (1986): The Greatest Baseball Match Ever Played

In a baseball scoreboards feature, we recall what was possibly the most amazing match ever played. Baseball may just be one of the few sports in which individual effort is as equally important, if not more than, the team effort. This is a sport where individuals make up the team, and there might just be an “I” in “team”. I say this because; a great deal depends on the player currently in the spotlight such as the pitcher, the batter or the fielder/catcher. If they fumble and miss, then the entire team misses out. In short, it is the players who make the game a legend.

Is Goal-line Technology Finally Coming To Soccer?

In Soccer Scoreboards news, we look at the moves being made to bring goal-line technology to soccer.

For decades the debate has raged in soccer circles about goal-line technology. The World Cup of 2010 was particularly controversial with more than one incident involving close goal-line calls. For example, with the soccer scoreboards showing 2-1 to Germany, England scored a goal as the referee deemed that it had not crossed the line, when replays clearly showed that the goal should have stood.

Shortest Players in NBA History – Updated Article.

Shortest Players in NBA HistoryIn basketball scoreboards news, we look at somewhat esoteric subject. Who were the shortest players ever to have played in the NBA?

Basketball is one of the few sports which practically demands a distinct physique. As we all know, that demand is height. Most of the players in the NBA of today and the past are and were over 6 feet tall, and many 6 foot 6 and above. Clearly height is an obvious advantage in basketball, unlike in sports such as soccer or baseball, in which physical attributes are much less important. In one way this is a inherent disadvantage of the game of basketball: whilst the best soccer player in the world today, Messi, is only 5 foot 7, in basketball the vast majority of players of such a a height will get nowhere. In another way, this is not strictly true, as there have been some notable exceptions in the game of basketball over the years. Below we look the shortest players in basketball history who made it big.

5 tips for the budding quarterback

5 Tips For The Budding Quarterback

In a football scoreboards feature, here are 5 great tips for the budding quarterback. In American football the quarterback is the undisputed leader of the game and is generally considered as the single most influential player on the field. For this reason many youngsters aspire to play exactly in that position. Here are the football scoreboards 5 tips:

Leadership: Quarterbacks need to be outstanding leaders, and there is no way around this. This means leadership before and after a game, as well as on the spot during a play. The quarterback should always have a plan B in the event that the primary move does not work out. Motivation is also a key quarterback skill. If you can bring the best out of the players around him, you are worth a lot more than just your throwing arm. If you are a good driver, and gain the respect of your henchmen, you are one big step towards becoming a great quarterback

Training: The throwing technique needs to be worked over and worked over again – no matter how much you work on it there is always room for improvement. The elbow of the throwing arm should be kept elevated at all times above your shoulder.

Precision and consistency: Unfortunately, unlike many of the other players, if you make a mistake as a quarterback, everyone is going to know about it. For this reason precision and consistency is required. Only with years of hard training can a quarterback develop the precision skills that are needed to be the best.

Speed of movement: A wide range of exercises need to be included in your training regime to gain the speed and strength required to perform at the highest levels. Training programs should include running, jumping, crawling, skipping, climbing, and any other such bodily movement, in order to train to the maximum every muscle group in the body.

Attitude: Belief is often what separates the men from the boys. Even the very best players in the world sometimes suffer from loss of confidence, and the impact on their game is devastating. Self-belief is often the biggest stumbling block which otherwise promising young players trip up on. Visualization techniques can help you with this: you see yourself successfully performing plays, and repeat this over and over again until it almost feels real. Know it will happen, and you are already half way there. Attitude also refers to your relationship with other teammates. The best players enjoy healthy competition but no more. The ego is left behind and what is most important is the good of the team overall. Work for and with the team, and you will get noticed fast.

Keep these 5 tips in mind, work hard, enjoy what you do, and you will be successful.

Improve Your Dunk With These Great Tips

In a basketball scoreboards feature, we take a look at the most talked about shot in basketball: the slam dunk.
Firstly, you are going to need the right footwear. This is vital if you are going to get the elevation you need to get to he ring. A good pair of sneakers can automatically add a couple of inches to your vertical jump. These shoes don’t come cheap, but don’t all for the marketing either. Do your research as the best known brands are not necessarily the best. Don’t skip this step because quality shoes also give added protection to your ankles, which bear the brunt of the stress in jumping.

Best Nfl Team Never To Have Won The Super Bowl – Part 2

Green Bay in 1996: A great 13-3 season and winner of the NFC, Green Bay performed brilliantly in 96. Their QB Brett Favre won the MVP for the 3rd season in a row. Green Bay played in San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game, and the football scoreboards showed a 23-10 victory. However, they were denied their second championship in a row when the unfancied underdogs, the Broncos, shocked them in Super Bowl XXXII.

St. Louis in 2002: A fantastic regular season, with the football scoreboards showing 14-2 in their favour. They became the first (and still only) team in the illustrious history of the NFL to score more than 500 points 3 years in a row. Their start player, Kurt Warner won his second MVP in 3 years. Marshall Faulk reached over 2100 yards from scrimmage. They were expected to walk through Super Bowl XXXVI, and to establish themselves as THE team for the 2000’s. However, the opposing team: the Patriots, who were lead by a rookie-starting QB that no one knew about, had other plans, and they spoiled the party in St.Louis.

This was, however, after the Dolphins had destroyed almost every team it had come across that year. Their record for the season was 14-2, and they had racked up an impressive 513 points. 84 had really been a great year for the team. It was the first season for Dan Marino, and it was one of the best QB seasons the NFL had ever seen. He threw a record 47 touchdown passes, which destroyed the previous record of 36. His 5084 passing yards record for one season has still to be beaten, 25 years later.

The History Of Basketball In The Us.

In a basketball scoreboards feature, we will look at the history of basketball in the US.
Basketball was invented in the late 1800s by the Canadian born James Naismith. He did this in response to the YMCA, who wanted an interesting form of indoor entertainment that could be played all year round. Initially, the game was played with 9 players per team, there was a peach basket instead of hoops, and the ball was smaller and similar to a soccer ball.

The all-dominant NBA was not formed until 1946, and it took it a while to become successful. There were a few early stars and competitive games were held, but the sport did not get much exposure. It took more than 15 years for the popularity of the game to explode and for the league to expand. The basketball scoreboards showed that Bill Russel was the first great star, and he lead his team the Boston Celtics to no less than eight consecutive championships.

Football scoreboards terrible team 1 – Miami Dolphins: 2007: 1-15-0
I’m sure that most fans will agree that the performances of this team in 2007 were some of the worst ever seen in the NFL. During the season, off field scandals hampered the team, as four of the players were arrested for various offenses. After this, Cam Cameron was brought in and he was the 7th head coach in the team’s history. Straight away, he fired 7 out of the 11 existing coaches, and got rid of a large number of worthless players, such as McMichael and Morris. The record of one win and 15 losses at least had one win on it. This was against the Baltimore Ravens in overtime.

With the finances the team had, however, and the general ridiculousness surrounding the behavior of the coach and team as a whole, the Knicks are definitely the worst NBA team the east coast saw in the last decade.
