At the end of his career, his averages looked like this: 2 steals, 7.2 rebounds, 11.2 assists and 19.5 points per game. The NFL Combine Position Drills: Defensive Lineman

The Nfl Combine Position Drills: Defensive Lineman

In a football scoreboards feature, I have taken a look at the defensive lineman position in the NFL combine. If you are a defensive lineman, it is all about getting to the quarterback. There is one drill at the NFL combine that all coaches prefer to all the others for a defensive lineman. In this drill there are, essentially, two moves which every defensive linebacker and lineman rushing the quarterback have to demonstrate: the Rip and the Swim. These are 2 very different techniques but actually they are quite basic and simple. If you can show that you can do this drill to a very high level, you are on your way to getting into the NFL.

Trade Rumors for the 2011 MLB Season

Trade Rumors For The 2011 Mlb Season

With the 2011 season right around the corner, there have been several trade rumors circling around. Some of the players are being rumored as up for trading because their teams see them more as a liability than an asset. Some players’ contracts are nearing their end, and they may graduate to free agency. While others still might just be retiring (Bengie Molina). The 4 Craziest Acts in the History of Soccer

The 4 Craziest Acts In The History Of Soccer

Professional footballers can get themselves in the headlines for their off the field acts just as well as for their on field acts. At times these off field acts can be crazy and outrageous, and they show the fans that footballers can be an entirely different breed. In a soccer scoerboards feature, I have taken a look at some of the footballers’ craziest acts from recent years:

Ashley Cole
Chelsea’s defender managed to get himself in the news for shooting, and not with a camera! Now you must be wondering ‘How is that possible?’ Well, Ashley Cole was said to be larking around with a .22 caliber air rifle, and he shot a Loughborough University student, Tom Cowan. This is not the first time that Cole has got himself into serious trouble. He drew negative attention to himself when he was caught cheating on his celebrity wife and when he almost crashed his car after being extremely frustrated when he was offered a measly £50,000.

The Top 5 Most Controversial Figures in MLB

The Top 5 Most Controversial Figures In Mlb

Life has taught me that many of the good things come with a price. Many professional baseball players seem have come across the same problem. Baseball has given us countless legendary players and personalities and yet sometimes it is exactly these players and/or personalities who seem to so often go off the boil, and get lost amidst a wave of controversies. Apparently they have all the good things in life, but only the athlete in their position can truly understand the price of their fame and the incredible pressures that come with it. With that in mind, in this baseball scoreboards article, I have taken a look at the most controversial figures in the MLB.

MLB: The 5 Worst Players of the 2010 Season

Mlb: The 5 Worst Players Of The 2010 Season

Even though the 2010 season is long over, the fans’ memories are sharp, and the performances of the players in 2010 have not been forgotten. In particular, its the players who flopped that are stay on the fans’ minds, and the coaches too! They will either be looking to replace them or at least to work vigorously on improving their performances for the 2011 season! So let us take a baseball scoreboards look at the top 5 players who wore the (not so honorable crown) of worse players in the 2010 season.

1 – Pedro Feliz – with 11 seasons in MLB with 4 different teams and a World Series win alongside the Phillies under his belt, this guy still fell short last season! May be its time for him to call it a day, but then again if you are making $4.5 million a year with the Astros why would you? Once upon a time he was a 20 HR player, but sadly the baseball scoreboards showed that he reduced himself to a walk rate of 3.3%, .994 fielding and a line of .221/.246/.296

The Most Uneven Trades in NBA History

The Most Uneven Trades In Nba History

Trades can be a risky affair. Sometimes they turn out to be very beneficial for one team, but send the other towards a cellar. The number of trades that have proven to be successful for both the teams are without doubt in the minority. In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have reviewed some of the most lopsided trades that took place in the history of NBA.

Charles Barkley

Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1992. Barkley had established himself as a great player with a great personality. The 76ers traded him for Tim Perry, Jeff Hornacek and Andrew Lang. Barkley fast became the key player for the Suns, and the basketball scoreboards showed that he led them to the finals of the 1993 NBA championship. On the other hand, the 76ers lost out big time from this trade, as Hornacek moved onto Utah Jazz and became a very important player for the them, whilst Perry and Lang failed to shine.

The Top 5 Most Hilarious Names of College Football Bowl Games

The Top 5 Most Hilarious Names Of College Football Bowl Games

In a football scoreboards feature, I have taken an amusing look at some of the college “Superbowls” down the years.

When it comes to the NFL, there is only one bowl that matters: The Super Bowl. However, there is a whole other world of football separate to the NFL: College Football. The colleges and the universities that are a member of the National College Athletic Association have their own bowls. It may not always be Super, but it’s still a bowl and requires a lot of sponsors to bankroll the party. The sponsor who throws in the most money gets to name the bowl after their product or business, therefore, the names that the bowls end up having are quiet…well, you’ll see for yourself!

Apart from the fact that Nasri has been hit by injuries this year, he has performed like never before for Arsenal. He is a key player for the club and has 14 goals to his name. According to Zidane, Nasri is the bright future of French football, and this season he is showing us why Zidane said that. But can he reach the amazing heights of the great Zidane? 5. Theo Walcott and Andrei Arshavin

There are players who are not that great midfielders on their own, but when they pair up with another midfielder they make a deadly combination. This is the case for Arsenal’s Walcott and Arshavin. Walcott started off the season incredibly well and is arguably having his best season ever with 7 goals already to his name in the league. The soccer scoreboards show that Arshavin joined the gunners in January 2009 and since then has been one of the key players for the team. His impact is evident from the fact that the gunners have not lost a single match out of the 13 matches Arshavin has played in (as of February).

He played incredibly well against the Los Angeles Lakers two weeks ago, with the basketball scoreboards showing that he scored a career high 29 points. Things have taken a big turn for him this season though, and he has surely established his future with the LA Clippers. Derrick Rose
The name says it all! There is no substitute for this guy. He is the backbone of the Chicago Bulls and it is very difficult to imagine where the team would be without him. The Best Striking Partnerhips in the English Premier League

The Best Striking Partnerhips In The English Premier LeagueStrikers have arguably the single most important position in the team. Great strikers possess footballing intelligence, a deft first touch, an accurate shot and blistering speed. In this soccer scoreboards article I have listed the best striking partnerships in the league at the moment:

5. Gabriel Agbonlahor & Darren Bent
Agbonlahor and Bent play for Aston Villa. Bent has been in tremendous form this season and is performing at a very high level. Agbonlahor is not playing that well but with Bent beside him this pair has brought hope to Aston Villa’s fans this season, that perhaps they can achieve something yet. Bent has been in form and with the help of Young’s assists he is scoring well for the team. With Bent beside him, Agbonlahor shouldn’t be off form for too much longer. These are the two key players in the teams attacking line up, and Villa has a lot to look forward if they can gel and reach their potential.

He has earned three NBA rings and now is a probable choice for the MVP this season. He has some fantastic team mates like Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, but with players like these he has still managed to maintain the best scoring record in the team. More often than not, Mr. Irrelevant turns out to be exactly that “irrelevant”! However, sometimes, even though their selecting teams end up cutting them they do break into the team and have to have long careers, with varying degrees of success. The dispute (fight, battle, war…everything fits!) is over the contract/agreement between the NFL franchise owners and the NFL Players Association. To say that the owners and the NFLPA don’t like each other would be like saying that the Cowboys and Redskins are friendly! Everyone, who pays even the slightest of attention to football, probably knows that a big battle has been going on behind the scenes (or should I say “behind the lines of the football field”!) for the better part of last year and this. The Top 3 Most Weird Injuries in MLB

The Top 3 Most Weird Injuries In Mlb

In the latest baseball scoreboards article, I have looked at some of the more ridiculous injuries that MLB players have sustained.

Injuries are a part of every sport, no matter what the degree of physical exertion required. However, it seems that for a player to get injured, they do not necessarily need to be playing a particularly physical game, or in some cases they do not need to be playing at all to get injured. In some cases, as you will see, getting injured and missing a game are not mutually inclusive. Without further ado, here are the 3 “baseball scoreboards” most freakish and weird injuries that a MLB player has sustained and missed a game as a result.

The Best foreign born NBA players

The Best Foreign Born Nba Players

The NBA has been greatly influenced by foreign players, particularly in the last decade. In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have listed the players who have made the greatest impact on the game past and present.

Yao Ming – China
Yao Ming was first drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2002. He was the rookie of the year in 2003. In the first three years of his career this iconic giant lived up to the expectations and hype that his presence in the league created. He also increased interest in the league in Asia massively. However, currently he is stuck in the realm of injuries and he might even have to retire. He has missed large parts of the last few seasons and has played only five matches so far this season. He remains very popular among NBA fans all over the world, and we all hope that he can still recover from his endless injuries and put in a good run of games.

The NBA’s best players – Half Way Through the Season

The Nba’s Best Players - Half Way Through The Season

We are just over the halfway mark of the current NBA season, and as ever there have been some brilliant performances. Some newcomers have made their place in the team their own by putting in consistent performances at a high level, others have not performed as well as expected and have been a big dissapointment, whilst there is the old guard of top players who continue to be on top of their game.

Here is a basketball scoreboardslist of players who I regard have made the most waves in the first half of the season:

The Top 3 Best Super Bowl Games Ever

The Top 3 Best Super Bowl Games Ever

In a football scoreboards feature, I have taken a look back at the three most riveting, most talked about Superbowl games ever to have been played.

Super Bowl is “the” sporting event of the year for all Americans. It is the event when Americans spend more than $50 million on food and drinks, making it the day when Americans consume the most food, second to Thanksgiving. It is the day when 14,500 tons of chips are consumed, when over 100 million bottles of beer are drunk. It is the day…well you get the picture! With the forty fourth Super Bowl just completed, let us look at the top 3 best Super Bowl games ever played.

The Top 3 Greatest Defensive Players Ever in the NBA

The Top 3 Greatest Defensive Players Ever In The Nba

In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have selected the best defensive players to have ever played in the NBA.

Among the American holy trinity of sports i.e. baseball, football and basketball; basketball is perhaps the game where the team’s defending ability can have the biggest impact on the outcome of the match. This is backed up by the fact that the winning teams often get to where they are through the strength of their defense. Sometimes, all a team needs is one great defensive player at an important position and voila, the game is theirs! Here is the basketball scoreboards list of the greatest defensive players in the NBA, who managed to turn the tables for their team on more than one occasion.

The Top 3 Quarterbacks in the NFL 2010-2011 Season

The Top 3 Quarterbacks In The Nfl 2010-2011 Season

The best offense is a good defense…or is it the best defense is a good offense? Football is a game where this particular saying doesn’t always matter because no matter how good your offense is, if your defense isn’t stopping the other team from gaining ground then it’s a moot point and vice versa! Therefore, it is safe to say that both aspects of the game are complementary and not substitutes of the other. With that in mind, in a football scoreboards feature, I have taken a look at the best quarterbacks. A team’s offense is only as good as its quarterback and his leadership!

The Top 3 MLB Rookies with Great Potential in 2011

The Top 3 Mlb Rookies With Great Potential In 2011

In a baseball scoreboards feature, I have reviewed 3 of the most promising rookies for the year 2011.

Every team in every sport requires young talent to come through the ranks every year, so that they can replace their non-performing or players that have become a bit too old for the game (Jamie Moyer, anyone?) Being an older player doesn’t necessarily means they are not performing (again, Jamie Moyer!) but their fitness starts to deteriorate, which can cause inconsistencies in their performances. However, the point remains, rookies are important and here are the top 3 rookies with the greatest potential coming into 2011.

Arsenal’s Lucky Charm – Cesc Fabregas

Arsenal’s Lucky Charm - Cesc Fabregas

In a soccer scoreboards feature, I have looked at Cesc Fabrega’s huge influence on Arsenal. The team is starving for trophies, but with this man at the helm the time is surely coming when the fans will have to suffer no more!

Arsenal is an English club nicknamed as The Gunners. It has a team with a great history, that is dearly loved and supported by its fans. Arsenal does not have scores of expensive stars such as Chelsea or Manchester City, but it has had some of the most admired players in the world on its books over the years, such as Ian Wright, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vierira.

The Top 3 Goals Ever Scored In a World Cup

The Top 3 Goals Ever Scored In A World Cup

Ever wondered why soccer is such an exciting and popular global sport? It’s almost like football; only without the padding and that it’s played with the feet instead of the hands. Other than that, they are almost the same; the physical contacts (Zidane’s head bud!) and going behind enemy lines to score! However, as football is more about brute force, soccer is more about skill and touch. Scoring a goal is very difficult, but when it happens it is one of the best moments in any sport. Here is a soccer scoreboards list of the top 3 goals ever to be scored in the World Cup and the players who scored them.

NFL: Top 3 Most Disappointing Players in 2010

Nfl: Top 3 Most Disappointing Players In 2010

In a football scoreboards feature, I have collated the biggest 3 flops of last year. It turns out that they are some of the biggest names in the game too…

Football is like a religion for America and their teams are like Gods to many fans. So, needless to say the fans put their teams on pedestals that are so high, they usually get dizzy and fall at one time or the other! With the money players are recieving nowadays, the fans expect great things from their teams and from particular players. So, regardless to say, when their teams and/or players don’t perform they get (to put it mildly) disappointed. And thus; rise up, the top 3 most disappointing players in the NFL in 2010!

4 of the Overrated NBA Players Through the Ages

4 Of The Overrated Nba Players Through The Ages

In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have looked back at some of the most famous, yet most overrated players to have plyed their trade in the NBA.

Being overrated does not necassarily mean that the player does not play well. It simply means that the player is given more credit than he actually deserves and is given too much media attention. There is a lot of hype (and money!) surrounding a lot of players, and some of them quite simply do not give back what they get. Here is a list of NBA’s most overrated players who have played in the past.

The Top 2 Free Agents in the NBA up for Grabs in 2011

The Top 2 Free Agents In The Nba Up For Grabs In 2011

In a baskeball scoreboards feature, I have taken a look at Carmelo Anthony and Yao Ming, 2 free agents that are of interest in 2011.

In 2010, we saw several key players being freed into the wild again i.e. the caps on their contracts ran out and they were free to either keep playing for their current team or find new ones with better contracts. However, the top tier players i.e. LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade showed that it is not always about the money. These players left money on the table only to be able to play on the same team: Miami Heat (OK, I’m joking about LeBron!). Needless to say, the Heats will heat the courts with the trio in their wings. Now, the problem is there aren’t many of those big name players left, so the light falls on the next top free agents that will be up for grabs in 2011. Here are the top 2 basketball scoreboards free agents currently roaming the markets.

Barcelona and the Players that are Bringing it Glory

Barcelona And The Players That Are Bringing It Glory

Nothing has gone wrong for Barcelona this season. So far they have got everything right – from the number of victories to the amazing performances to the success of the newly signed players. The soccer scoreboards showed that David Villa signed with Barcelona in May 2010 for a fee of €40 million. The team was further strengthened by signing probably the best striker in the world, and this is on top of the fact that it already has players on its books such as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi etc! Barcelona had the most successful season ever in 2008-2009. It was in fact the most successful in any club’s history and nobody could have at that time said that the same team could possibly perform better than they did in the 2008-2009 season. This season, however is just as special.

How to Develop Better Goalkeeping Skills

How To Develop Better Goalkeeping Skills

In a soccer scoreboards feature, I have looked briefly at the key skills of the all important goalkeeping position.

The goalkeeper is a key player who holds a very important position in the team. Unfortunately coaches do not always pay much attention to enhancng goal keeping skills, and this is because the coaches often lack goalkeeping experience themselves, so they are of-course unable to train their goalkeepers in the same way that they train their outfield players. Here are some soccer scoreboards tips for budding goalkeepers:

Top 3 best baseball stadiums in America

Top 3 Best Baseball Stadiums In America

In a baseball scoreboards feature, I have chosen what I consider to be the very best 3 ballparks in the US. Do you agree?

Baseball is a game that few people watch alone. In fact, the more people who are watching it together, the more engaging and fun the game gets. The social aspect of this game might be why, no matter what team is playing, baseball remains so popular in the face of other faster and more exciting sports. However, it is not just the passionate audience that makes the game what it is, it is also the facilities, the surroundings and the ambience of the stadium itself. Here are the top baseball stadiums of America with a look at what exactly makes them such great ballparks:

The best catchers are of enormous value to their team. Of-course, they also have to bat and field like every other player of the team, so they have to be good all round players, and not just at the specific skill. The New York Mets has been very fortunate in this regard as it has been blessed with some amazing catchers over the year. The Top 3 Dirtiest Players in the NFL in 2010

The Top 3 Dirtiest Players In The Nfl In 2010

In a football scoreboards review, I have listed the players we most love to hate – and the ones that we would least want to play against!

Football is a sport that not only tests the physical strength of an athlete, but also which tests their emotional strength i.e. their ability to refrain from being emotionally provoked by their counterparts. This is because besides being a brutal contact sport, it is also a sport where athletes brutally verbally abuse each other as well. However, some athletes completely fail to show any strength in controlling themselves as well as their emotions which is why they are termed as the dirtiest and most provocative players in the sport. Here is a list of players who managed to categorize themselves as the dirtiest players in the NFL in the year 2010.

Nfl: The 2 Most Embarrassing Defeats In The Last 5 Years

In a sport such as football, with its testosterone overload and insaciable desire for bloody victory, there can be no sport in which losing is quite so painful. Even in a defeat, it is one thing to lose a tight competition and another to be completely crushed by your opponent. Now, that is utterly embarrassing. In a football scoreboards feature, I have discussed 3 of the worst defeats to a team in the NFL, and their comeback against the same opponent in their next game.

2 of the Best NBA Players and Their Signature Shoes

2 Of The Best Nba Players And Their Signature Shoes

In a basketball scoreboards feature, we take a look at the two biggest players in the NBA and their fancy footwear!

Just like any other commercialized sport, NBA is a highly lucrative industry for a great basketball player. And with great money, comes great…shoes! Shoes are the weapon for every athlete in every sport. Perhaps this is even more true for a basketball athlete (besides, of course, a marathon runner!) because a basketball player has to be completely comfortable in his shoes for him to execute precise the jumps and cuts. The biggest players in the NBA (who we see most on the basketball scoreboards!) like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James realize their shoes’ importance, which is why they have created a new breed of shoes and have partnered a shoe company to produce them. Now let’s take a look at what makes their shoes so special for them.

The Best 4 Forwards Of The Last Few Years

In a soccer scoreboards feature, I have picked out the best 4 forwards that I have seen play in the last few years. Two of them are in their prime now, whilst the other two are at the end of their great careers.

Goals are the most interesting part of the game of soccer, and the people who score goals are admired dearly by their fans. Forwards have the big responsibility for scoring at least 20 goals for their team per season. We have seen some great forwards in the history of the game; now let’s take a look at some of the best to have plyed their trade in recent times, or who are still playing today.

The NBA’s 3 Most Underrated Players

The Nba’s 3 Most Underrated Players

In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have chosen the best players in the NBA who I consider do not get the credit that their high level of play warrants.

There are some players who, for one reason or another, simply do not get the credit they deserve. They are players who perform well and are great athletes yet they do not get the attention and appreciation that similar level players get all the time. One of the main reasons for this is often because they play for a team that is weak or not as talked about as other teams are. Whatever the reason, if a player is performing well he should be applauded for his efforts. Here are some players who did not get the attention that they deserve, until now!

The Most Famous Kinds Of Pitches And The Mlb Pitchers Who Use Them

In a baseball scoreboards feature, I have taken a look at the four most common kinds of pitches, and the MLB players who utilize them the best.

More than any other player in the team, the pitcher is perhaps the most important. If the pitchers are smart and have exceptional skills, they have a lot of different pitches in their arsenal. It then does not matter how hard or how well the other team’s batters hit the ball because the pitchers would have the ability to outsmart them with a different kind of pitch every time. Below is a list of the most famous kinds of pitches that MLB pitchers use regularly and the pitchers who specialize in them:

How To Improve Your Baseball Catching Skills

In a baseball scoreboards feature, I have summarized the key skills you need to become a great catcher.

Catching is a very important position in baseball, however its importance is sometimes underrated. Fans admire players who are good throwers or hitters, but at the same time catching plays as almost as big a role in winning as hitting. It is a very demanding position, both physically as well as mentally. The ability to catch is an integral part of being a baseball player. The Priciest Soccer Transfers in 2010

The Priciest Soccer Transfers In 2010

In a soccer scoreboards feature, I have reviewed the 3 biggest transfers of the year, and asked the big question, “was it worth it?!”

The saying “money can buy everything” seems to be true in today’s sporting world. Qualities like honesty and loyalty are also bought. This is true in the case of every sport and soccer is no exception. Players are more loyal and honest to clubs that pay them a handsome amount, whilst the concept of loyalty to the fans or the name of a club is dying out. Even in the top clubs in the world no players are untouchable, as the “new rich,” such as Manchester City, can stroll in and buy practically who they like for vastly inflated prices. 2010 has ended so let’s take a look at the biggest trades of the year.

The Best 3 Point Shooters Ever in the NBA

The Best 3 Point Shooters Ever In The Nba

In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have listed what I consider to be the biggest 3 point shooters ever to have graced the NBA with their pin-point skills.

A three-point shot is when a player scores from behind the three point line. If successful, the shot earns him and his team three points rather than the usual two points. The player is allowed to jump from outside the line and land inside the line but, only if the ball is released in mid air. If he fails to shoot in mid air, i.e. he shoots from inside the three point line, he only earns the regular two points. Aside from the 3 points the player gets if he makes the shot, he gets another advantage: if he misses the shot and is fouled he will be awarded free throw attempts which he can use to earn 4 points. Now let’s take a look at the best 3 point shooters ever to have played.

The Best Black Soccer Players of this Generation

The Best Black Soccer Players Of This Generation

In a soccer scoreboards feature, I haven taken look at the best black soccer players of the last decade.

In the last ten years there has been an explosion in the number of black players playing in the top European leagues, particularly in the French and English leagues. The reasons for this are complex, but they are largely social-cultural. To start with, increased opportunities due to anti-racism programs and the globalizing of the game (ten years ago, the majority of players in the English league, for instance, were British, but now the majority of them are foreign born). Secondly, sport is a huge part of black culture, and an avenue in which many young black kids go down. This is quite different in the Asian world, for instance, where playing sports to reach a professional level is much less important and not so encouraged.

The Quickest Soccer Players In The World Today

Soccer is a game in which physical attributes are not as important as in many other team sports, such as American football, rugby and hockey. The best players ever were neither big nor fast (take Pele and Maradonna as two good examples). The greatest trade currently in MLB is still undecided. Almost every team wants him, but the two most probable teams to whom Cliff Lee will move to is the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. Cliff Lee, who is 31, is looking for a seven year contract. He is a free agent and has played for the Texas Rangers in 2010. Cliff Lee is all over the news channels these days, and for good reason: the baseball scoreboards showed that he finished the 2008 season with 2.54 ERS and a CY award. Recently he led the Texas Rangers through the postseason.

Carlos Tevez is an Argentine player who plays for the English club Manchester City. He is currently the captain of the team. He signed a three year contract with Manchester City but right in the middle of the season he has requested a transfer. In one way perhaps we cannot blame Tevez, as Manchester City has lost a lot of its star players since the Abu Dhabi group took over.

Who Will Win This Year’s Fifa Ballon D’or?

The FIFA Ballon D’or is a European award and was previously given to European footballers only, however, in 1995 the rules changed and non-European players were also declared eligible for this award. NFL’s 4 Of The Best Defenses Ever

Nfl’s 4 Of The Best Defenses Ever

In a football scoreboards feature, we take a look back at the NFL’s most mean defenses ever. It might not be pretty, but its effective!

Every fan of the game has heard it so many times that it probably just ticks them off: the best defense wins the game. This principle is true for every sport, but even more so when it comes to American football. The offence is, no doubt, important too, but it has been observed that more often than not it is the team’s defense that is the number factor in bringing it postseason glory.
