George Herman Ruth (Babe Ruth)

Babe Ruth was born on 6th February 1985 and is known as one of the most famous baseball players to have ever lived. He was nicknamed “The Bambino” and “The Sultan of Swat.” The baseball scoreboards showed that he hit a record of 714 home runs in just 22 seasons and played as a right fielder. Many of his records lasted for decades. From 1914-1935 he was a major American baseball league player and played with the Red Sox for 6 years during which he pitched no less than 29 scoreless innings in a World Series – an outstanding record that lasted for 43 years. In 1920, Ruth was traded to the New York Yankees for what was then a huge fee of $125,000.

Dunga
Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri, commonly known as Dunga, coached the Brazilian team in the 2010 World Cup. He was a player for the Brazil team in 1994 who won the World Cup. In July 2006, Dunga was named as the coach of the national team. His coaching results were impressive, with the soccer scoreboards showing that Brazil won 4 out of 5 of their first matches that season. Initially his selection of the team was appreciated by many famous players but unfortunately it did not work out in the 2010 World Cup. Brazil got eliminated from the contest when they lost to Netherlands 2-1 in the quarterfinals. After their shameful exit, Dunga was dismissed by the Brazilian Football Confederation. He is now considered as the worst coach ever to lead the team in a World Cup.

England vs. West Germany, 1996:
England vs. West Germany was the final match of the World Cup in 1996. The soccer scoreboards showed that the game was tied at 2-2 till full time and was then moved to extra time. Without any goal being scored after 11 minutes of extra time, a controversial goal was scored by Geoff Hurst of England. The ball apparently landed on or just over the line; the referee was not certain whether it was a goal or not. He consulted his lineman who was from USSR and he signaled that it was a goal. The Swiss referee awarded the goal to England, leaving West Germany in utter despair. The goal has been controversial since the time it was scored and Germans believe that it was revenge from the USSR lineman because USSR had been defeated by West Germany in the semi finals.

Blooper 5: The missed punt.

It was the 1986 playoff game in Chicago against the Giants. It was a freezing cold January day with a strong wind. Just the sort of wind that kickers and kick returners fear. Sean Landeta, a second season punter, became the victim of the wind. As he attempted to punt close to his end near the beginning of the game, a massive gust of wind took the ball away from him as he dropped it and he barely got any foot on it at all. Chicago then picked up the loose ball up for a touchdown, and the Bears went on to win easily. Although the blooper had no baring on the final result, it certainly didn’t look good as far as Sean Landeta was concerned!
