The Top 5 Sophomores in the NBA

The Top 5 Sophomores In The Nba

The last two drafts have brought some of the most talented playes to the NBA that we have seen in some time. Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry and John Wall are just a few of these. These new superstars of the NBA will entertain us for many years to come after already secured a place in the hearts of NBA fans. In a feature, I have brought together the sophomores that have amazed us the most with their incredible performances:

Serge Ibaka
Sergeballu LaMu Sayonga Loom Walahas Jonas Hugo Ibaka (it’s such a mouthful it makes you wonder if it’s not 3 different people!), commonly known as Serge Ibaka, was drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder (the team that inherited the Sonics’ place in the NBA) in 2008. This year he impressed everybody after his incredible performance in the Slam Dunk contest. He is an amazing rebounder and defender, and possesses the ability that a lot of young players lack – the ability to work hard for his team as a team player. He is a complete powerhouse and the Thunders have definitely benefited by drafting him.

James Harden
James Harden was drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder in 2009. He has become a vital player for the team now that Jeff Green has been traded to the Boston Celtics. He has great leaping ability and attacks the hoop with speed and power. He also has a good defense game, and probably the best beard in sports!

Brandon Jennings
Brandon is known for the route he took to enter NBA. He adopted the prep-to-pro policy to get into the league. He skipped college and decided to play professional basketball in Europe to gain experience and make money. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2009 and since then he has been a superstar. He is the youngest player to put 55 points onto the basketball scoreboards in a single game in the history of NBA. He is very quick and the league is surely going to have another world beating superstar once he improves his court vision.

Tyreke Evans
Evans was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2009. He has great intensity and is immensely talented. However, he does have one flaw, which will be a bit problematic for him: fitness! Injuries have seemed to plague him, ever since he joined the NBA, and if this issue isn’t given some serious attention, the NBA will lose a player who is akin to a monster for the point guards, and too quick for the shooting guards.

Stephen Curry
There is only one word that comes to my mind when I hear his name – WOW! Despite his short height, 6 ft 3 in, this guy has emerged as one of the best three-point shooters in just a couple of seasons. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2009. He is already regarded as one of the best combo guards and with the talent he has he will surely be THE best combo guard in no time. Currently he is averaging 17.9 points per game and shoots 43.1% from behind the arc.
