In a basketball scoreboards feature, I have reviewed the recent victory for the Spurs over the Grizzlies.
The Antonio Spurs shocked everyone by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in the best of seven play-offs. The Grizzlies were up 3-1 in the series and it was a do or die situation for the Spurs. They had to win the match in order to stay alive in the series, and they showed incredible resilience to get through it in the last few minutes.
Manu Ginobilli and Gary Neal were the stars of the night. The Spurs were just minutes away from getting eliminated from the play-offs however, Ginobilli managed to score two points in the last 6 minutes when the basketball scoreboards showed that the Spurs were down 91-87. Gary Neal finished things off in overtime. His three point shot saved the Spurs from an embarrassing series defeat. Gary Neal wasn’t impressive at all during the whole regular season – he made only five shots the entire season, but he came on hard at the right time, and scored when his team needed it the most. He is undoubtedly the main reason behind the Spur’s comeback.
On the other hand, Manu Ginobilli was also outstanding in the match against the Grizzlies. He was the man who scored twice in the last six minutes and which made it possible for his team to avoid a certain series defeat. He was as energetic as ever and his he really showed his leadership skills just when his team needed them the most. Although Manu and Neal were amazing that night but the team as a whole needs to play better to get through this series against the Memphis Grizzlies. Ginobili admitted that they got lucky, and that they were the worst team in the second half.
The Memphis Grizzlies undoubtedly have the ability to defeat the Spurs and they will certainly look for a victory in the next game as they still have the advantage in the seven play-off series, 3-2. Experience plays a great role in a team, a whole new team of fresh blood and talent isn’t always a wise decision. This became evident in the match when we saw that even after getting so close to victory, the Grizzlies were unable to finish it off. Finishing is the major problem of this inexperienced side however, this team has the capability to defeat the Spurs and win the seven playoff series.
Spurs, on the other hand, with experienced players like Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobilli has failed to give the opposition a hard time and have lost much easily than their opponents would have thought. The Spurs need to gear up and put up an exorbitant fight if they want to win the play-offs.
