- The Houston Rockets have one of the best basketball court designs in the league, thanks in part to their diligence in selecting the perfect design
- The truly great NBA arenas combine great food, seats, parking and amenities to deliver the ultimate basketball viewing experience
Fans of all ages can appreciate a well designed court because it enhances just about every aspect of watching a game. There’s plenty of discussion as to which team has the best basketball court and the debate can rage on just like a debate over who’s the best player. There’s a lot that goes into being counted among the best courts in the NBA such as seating, sightlines, concessions, and parking, to name just a few.
Of course when it comes to the best basketball court in the NBA the number one thing a fan wants is to be able to see the game clearly. In addition, fans want a court design that simple and won’t detract from watching the actual basketball game. There are several great arenas but when it comes to sightlines and court designs none can compete with Madison Square Garden when it comes to sightlines. Even though the arena is several decades old there isn’t a bad seat in the house. When it comes to intensity and atmosphere no arena in the nation can compare to the Garden. There’s a reason they call it the world’s most famous arena. As far as court designs go, the Houston Rockets have one of the best basketball court designs in the league. The two-tone shading of the court gives it the appearance of a stage while the lack of color (specifically red) makes it easy on your eyes when watching a basketball game.
After sightlines most fans would agree the most important factor in determining the best basketball court in the NBA would be the food and drink that are served. One of the top spots in the league is the concourse at the SBC Center in San Antonio, home of the San Antonio Spurs. The concourse is set up more like a luxury sports bar than the typical concession stand at most arenas. Here fans have their choice of culinary delights and drinks in a comfortable and sociable setting. Fans can even forego the traditional beer for a margarita instead. There are also numerous amenities such as a shoe shine and massage stations.
But food and sightlines aren’t the only factors that contribute to the best arenas in the NBA today. The overall experience includes parking and convenience as well. The best basketball court designs incorporate all of these factors to deliver a memorable experience for the fan. The Conseco Field House in Indianapolis and the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado are two of the best all around arenas in the NBA. These courts combine classical features with cutting edge technology to deliver the new era of NBA arenas. One could only imagine what future basketball courts will offer.
As an electronic scoreboards continue to light up.
I hadn’t been to a basketball game in a long time and I recently went to a game and I was shocked. It was crazy how incredible the place looked. The colors and size of the place was great and the seats were great. It was even easier to find my way through the place.
I agree that the basketball courts have really come a long way. While I do feel that some of the extras are unnecessary and actually become a distraction from the game. But they do look great and the sound systems are remarkable.
I agree with Evan. As much as I can get engrossed in the game, I’ve got ADD and any distractions can get my attention without trying too hard.
I guess I just need front row seats. Anyone know where I can get some for free?
