In a basketball scoreboards feature, take a look at the Knicks and some of the really awful purchases that they have made through the years. we The New York Knicks is certainly not one of the NBA great teams. When you are not a great team and you make poor trades it can be disasterous. The New York Knicks have won the championship title only a couple of times and have never had any really special players on their roster such as Bird, Johnson, Jordan, Abdul Jabbar, Russell etc. NBA teams need to win and to win you need to have talented players, which is where the Knicks have fallen short, year after year. In the process of acquiring the sort of players that might get them somewhere, the team has made some terrible transfers. Five of the worst are highlighted here.
Number 5: Zach Randolph
Zach, no doubt is a talented player but his off the court issues kept him from becoming a great player and helping the Knicks to win a championship. Instead of focusing on his game and polishing his skills, Zach was more into off-court activities. His controversial personality was hated by Knick fans and he was booed every time he played a match. He could not get along with the team and lasted for only one year and a half with the team.
Number 4: Stephon Marbury
The basketball scoreboards show that Marbury was acquired by the Knicks in 2004. Since then he has been a problem for the team. His public quarrels with the team coach and his arrogant attitude have made him very difficult to handle. He got his coach fired and when a new coach was hired, the problems soon flared you with him as well. He never performed well for the team and was always caused the team problems. His intention was to get the second coach fired as well, but then he was instructed by the team management not to attend any training sessions of the Knicks and was asked to stay home.
Number 3: Donnell Harvey
He was traded in 2000 by the New York Knicks but didn’t do well for the team. He wasn’t actually a bad choice but his performances weren’t at the level that had been expected, and he did not have much effect on the team.
Number 2: Renaldo Balkman
The desicion to buy Renaldo balkman took many fans by surprise. Balkman was not even included in the list of 300 players eligible to be picked in the 2006-2007 draft. He was a very average player, but Isiah Thomas is known for making such poor decisions.
Number 1: Eddy Curry
Eddy curry was a relatively new player when he was picked by the New York Knicks. He did no-good for the team and nothing for the game as a whole. He was unproductive and was overweight. The Knicks made a dreadful decision by picking him over Tim Thomas and to top it all they paid him a total if $35 million!
