- The top baseball stars of today are seen everywhere; on the ball field, on billboards, magazines, and commercials
- It pays well for baseball all star players to keep their noses clean and stay way from any controversy to avoid diminishing their advertising potential
- In addition, these guys are role models for our children and held in high esteem
I’ve put together some of the top baseball stars for each position with an eye for their integrity as well. As the 2009 season has only just begun I am basing my choices on baseball stars 2008 and prior.
Top Baseball All Star Players
Albert Pujols – 1st Base
Pujols plays for the St. Louis Cardinals of the National League. He was voted the “Most Feared Hitter” among baseball stars 2008 by 30 Major League managers. With his wife Deidre they formed the Pujols Family Foundation to help children with Downs Syndrome in addition to helping the poor in his native Dominican Republic.
Chase Utley – 2nd Base
This second baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies is a prolific hitter in addition to his defensive abilities. He was voted to be the starting 2nd baseman for the 2007 All-Star Game. He couldn’t play due to a broken hand from being hit with a pitch. He came back the next year to help the Phillies to a World Series Championship.
Derek Jeter – Shortstop
The New York Yankees shortstop is getting up there in years; however, he is still one of the top baseball stars in the game. His stats are starting to decline somewhat but his star power is on the rise.
Alex Rodriquez – 3rd Base
A-Rod is one of baseball’s all star players and many consider him to be one of the best all-time. His 2007 statistics show he hit 54 homeruns with a .314 batting average and 156 RBI’s.
CC Sabathia – Pitcher
CC pitches for the New York Yankees. He signed the richest contract in MLB history for a pitcher in 2008. He played for the Cleveland Indians for the first part of his career and when he was traded to the Brewers in 2008 he took out an ad in the paper which read “Thank you for 10 great years … You’ve touched our lives with your kindness, love and generosity. We are forever grateful! It’s been a privilege and an honor!”
Victor Martinez – Catcher
Martinez is a switch-hitting slugger who catches for the Cleveland Indians. He has received two baseball all star players selections in 2004 and 2007.
Outfield – Alfonso Soriano
Starting his career as a 2nd baseman he was moved to left field when he was traded to the Washington Nationals. He achieved only the fourth 40-40 in MLB history with 46 homeruns and 41 stolen bases.
Outfield – Ryan Braun
Braun plays outfield for the Milwaukee Brewers. He set a new Major League record for a rookie when he compiled a .634 slugging percentage in 2007. He took Rookie of the Year honors in 2007 as well.
Manny Ramirez – Los Angeles Dodgers
Ramirez is one of the top baseball stars to hit over 500 career homeruns. He is second to the great Lou Gehrig in grand slams at 20 to Gehrig’s 23.
As an electronic scoreboards continue to light up.
With all of the great players and athletes out there that are setting a terrible example for children with drug scandals, fights and jail time, it is good see that at least some of the today’s top stars are keeping their morals, at least in the public eye.
