There are a number of teams in baseball that are still waiting to win their first World Series title. For some, they have visited the championship but not come away with the baseball World Series title. For others, they have never made it at all. For some teams it has been so long since their last World Series title that no one who is alive can remember it.
This is a list of teams that have never been to the World Series title championship:
Texas Rangers
This team gets first place because it is the oldest franchise never to have reached a World Series. Formed in 1961, the Rangers have won 3 AL West Championships.
Washington Nationals
Before they moved and renamed themselves, this team was the other Canadian team, the Montreal Expos. And as the Expos, they have managed to stay out of the World Series title game since they formed in 1969.
Seattle Mariners
Formed in 1977, Seattle has never reached the gloried series either. In the mid 1990s, when they were loaded with talent they won 2 of their 3 AL West Championships but nothing more.
Here are the next most futile teams in Major League baseball. They have each been to the series but have never won a World Series title.
Houston Astros
The Astros lead the list because they were added to the league back in 1962 and even though they made it to the title series in 2005 under the resurrected arm of Roger Clemens, they never won a game.
Milkwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have had a long spell since their one and only appearance to the Fall Classic. since they joined the league in 1969, it has been since 1982 since they made an appearance. They did win three games and take the series to a game 7 before losing.
San Diego Padres
The Pads have been around since 1969 and have managed to get in to the World Series two times. Most recently, they visited in 1998 but their combined record is a futile 1-8 once they reach the classic.
Colorado Rockies
They have only been around since 1993 and they did make challenge for the World Series title in 2007. They managed to get swept by the Boston Red Sox, however.
Tampa Bay Rays
They would have been higher on this list if not for their appearance in 2008 and their prospects for the coming years. The Rays were only formed in 1998 and it has only been one season since they changed jerseys.
Longest break in between winning a baseball World Series title:
Chicago Cubs
Who else but the lovable loser Cubs? Last time they went to the title game was 1945 when World War II ended and the last time they won was 1908, 6 years before WWI began.
Cleveland Indians
Surprisingly, the second longest drought between titles goes to the perennial division powerhouse Indians. The last time they won was back in 1948. They have been in 3 world series title match-ups, the last in 1997.

I have to feel bad for the Cubbies. Who doesn’t? They are the original pluggers. I root for them anyway, even though I am always pulling for my Rockies. I was shocked when they got in the 07 Series. I was equally shocked when they were swept. But they’re sort of the new guys on the block, so give them time.
I am a born and raised Cubbies fan strait outa chi town, I’m only 13 so i never even saw the Cubs make it to the World Series. But i sure have a feeling it’s going to happen very soon, we may not have someone like Albert Pujols or Chipper Jones but we do have Big Derrek Lee and I know he can take us to the Series very soon!
