MLB’s 5 Most Selfish Players

MLB’s 5 Most Selfish Players

It seems to be a rule that almost every MLB team has player who thinks only about himself and not of the team as a collective unit. It also seems like more and more of these personalities are appearing in MLB. In a feature, I have taken a look at the 5 players who I consider to be the 5 most selfish players of MLB.

5. Carlos Zambrano
Carlos Zambrano plays for the Chicago Cubs and is known for his short temper in Major League Baseball. More often than it seems like all he is interested in is himself and his own performance. He does not react when the team performs well but he certainly does when something goes wrong with him, and then he is ready to start a battle. He has a huge list of fights in the MLB, and a lot of players have fallen prey to his temper! (Unfortunately for them – he is 6′ 5″ and 260 pounds!)

4. BJ Upton
The Tampa Bay Rays’ center fielder is one of the laziest players in baseball. He has favored the other teams a number of times by loafing after a hit, and has been consistently criticized for his lack of hustle. Along with this irritating and annoying habit of his he has had the guts to start a fight with the players, and even with his captain. Good job he has some good stats, else he would have been dropped a long time ago!

3. Jose Reyes
The New York Mets shortstop, Jose Reyes is an all time leader in triples and stolen bases in the history of the Mets. This is what he is interested in; making his own records! He is the kind of player who clearly does not care about the team, but is more interested in making his own records and basking in his personal glory. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best players the Mets currently have, but his selfishness will surely force his franchise to trade him.

2. Jorge Posada
Posada plays for the New York Yankees as a catcher. He is good player but his immature attitude has ruined his image. Just when the coach decided to send him to bat in the ninth position, he was ready to leave the team for good. Not the sort of player the Yankees need on their ranks.

1. Alex Rodriguez
Another Yankee who is only concerned with his own performance! We all know that there is no player more selfish than A-Rod. He thinks of himself very highly and assumes that everybody is envious of him (though it’s the other way round). According to him, he can only be understood by a high-status group of people and always looks for admiration. For him, it has been and will always be about ‘A-Rod.’
