The past, present, and future of team sports in the state of Mississippi can have a big impact on sports fans here in the state. High schools and colleges in Mississippi have a long history and tradition of excelling at team sports, and this is still true today. Mississippi State University students Jarvis Vernando and Alexis Rack were both recently honored for their sports accomplishments at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Vernando was given the 2009 Cellular South Howell trophy, and he is the third student from this university to receive this honor. Vernando played a big part in the Bulldogs scoring and rebounding on the court during the last year, and he has been ranked one of the top in the nation when it comes to blocking shots, with one hundred and seventy. Jarvis has also been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and the SEC Tournament MVP when he led the team to the third title win ever by the school. Alexis Rack was also honored during the awards, when she was named for the Gillium trophy. Rack has a career points record that is ranked number ten at the university, with close to twelve hundred. Another prominent alumni from MSU at the ceremony was Bailey Howell, who was named to the national basketball hall of fame and was a Mississippi State All American player.
Schools which offer team sports in Mississippi, which is every high school and college in the state, can really benefit from modern and updated equipment. Great team players are needed for success, but so are modern facilities with updated or new equipment. This includes new facilities if needed, LED electronic scoreboards, sports equipment, uniforms, and other essentials. Installing modern equipment can have many benefits which far outweigh the initial cost. Many schools in Mississippi have installed new score keeping equipment, and they have seen a big difference from it. When it comes to being loyal team spots fans, Laurel, Mississippi may take the prize. This city has three separate high schools which recently installed new electronic scoreboards. Laurel High School installed a Football Scoreboard 3530, and sports fans at this school could not be happier. Northeast High School and West Jones High School, which are also in Laurel, Mississippi, installed new equipment as well, and both of these high schools also choose the same exact equipment including the scoreboard make and model.
The future of team sports in Mississippi could be very exciting, especially if more cities and schools follow the trend and install new scoreboards and other equipment. Doing this can have a number of benefits which can affect the school, the players, and the sports fans and visitors.
For example, electronic basketball scoreboards helps any team, and their fans, enjoy the game so much more.
Modern equipment can help motivate the team and lift up team spirits, and this in turn can cause better performance in the game. Fans and visitors can clearly see the score and keep track of every important factor, and a new scoreboard can draw in larger numbers of visitors. Some sports fans will travel farther to watch a game in a modern facility with all of the latest technology and equipment, and the school can see a big increase in the amount of revenue generated by the sports activities. Large universities and colleges, such as Mississippi State University, normally already have modern scoreboards, but many smaller colleges and high schools do not, and may not realize the benefits that this equipment can offer. Team sports in Mississippi will probably continue to be excellent in the future, and updating the equipment used will just make it better in the state for players and fans.
